A documentary on the Victoria Theatre documentary about the Civil War in Staffordshire, plus glimpses of other Victoria Theatre documentaries from the 1960s.

A 90 minute compilation of railway material compiled by Staffordshire Film Archive for the Railway Museum at York and their Centenary of Steam event

BEN: DIARY OF A HEROIN ADDICT (Premiere)

This is a premiere of the full length version of the acclaimed documentary, originally screened in a short version on SKY 1 in December 2008. Junction 15's (based here in Stoke) first international TV documentary. A discussion will follow the screening. Warning - the documentary contains disturbing subject matter and images.

Wed 4th Feb

TURPIN (Premiere)

First showing of the 45-minute screen drama of the famous highwayman directed by University graduate Chris Stone and filmed in Staffordshire locations. Chris will introduce the film, and also show a making-of documentary.

Wed 11th Feb

LEEK AND THE STORY OF SILK-TWISTING & DYEING

All the twisting and dyeing activities in the last remaining Silk Mill in Leek - the Wellington Mill - filmed in 1988. Also showing; "Our Daily Bread" - the Leek bakery filmed in colour by John Martin in 1939, shown for the first time with its original commentary.

BRITISH CANALS AND CANAL BOATS

Ray Johnson's documentary, telling the history of UK canals with lots of archive film and memorabilia of canals and boats from 1900 onwards - involving interviews with experts, boatmen and enthusiasts. Plus a special feature on canals through the Potteries.

Wed 25th Feb

IN THE HEART OF INDIA (Premiere)

Richard O'Donoghue's documentary covers a rally involving around 100 people through the outback of India - raising nearly £600,000 which goes towards two charities; The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity and Adventure Ashram. The film shows the places which the money will benefit.

Wed 4th March

THE KNOTTY (Premiere)

By kind permission of the Victoria Theatre Collection at Staffordshire University; a special showing of the SFA recording of a complete performance of the Vic's most famous documentary - revived in 2008 in aid of the New Vic Theatre's Building Futures Appeal.
